About Me
I am the type of person who always carries a pen — just in case. I am the office lurker who loiters near a misplaced apostrophe on a posted notice until there is no one around to see me correct it. I often do the same with my favorite novels — such magic deserves to look its best! I must admit, also, that friendships have been made based on the correct use of "your" and "you're." (Little do they know!)
It's no surprise I found my way into the proofreading industry. My passion is helping you produce your BEST work.
I partner with court reporters to assist you in providing the cleanest and most accurate transcripts possible. I love this work because it requires finesse, attention to detail, and an active mind. My training was through the intensive course Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice, and I have thousands of pages of experience under my belt.

My Process
I proof using the following reference materials:

I pay close attention to minute details such as formatting inconsistencies, word repetitions and transpositions, homophones, etc. My proofing style is absolutely rule based, but I also place a lot of emphasis on consistency and readability.
Because I take the utmost care in proofing based on both the rules AND your preferences, I highly recommend that all new clients fill out a preference sheet. You may also choose to provide me with an example of an already proofed, clean transcript that is up to your standards of completion. This supports us both in our work by helping me provide you with EXACTLY what you are looking for in your finished product.
Step 1
I receive an email notice from you stating, one, that you have a transcript ready to be proofread and, two, how quickly you need it completed. I will respond as soon as possible with a confirmation of receipt.
Step 2
I will make corrections directly on the PDF copy of the transcript in red and yellow. If there is something I am unsure about, I will leave you a note.
I encourage you to communicate with me about your preferences throughout our business relationship — tell me what I can do better for you! Do you hate the Oxford comma? If so, please let me know, and I’ll stop adding them.
Step 3
I will return to you, via email, only the pages on which I have made corrections. You should see both red annotations and yellow highlighting on each page.
